A little about myself and some questions

Hello everyone

My name is Sandra. I am a senior at UMBC. My major is information systems. I am 23 years old and I enjoy to travel. I have been to a few different countries. I plan to go to Portugal next summer and maybe even stop in Spain for a few days.

I have a few questions about Spain's tradition, when it comes to the older folks. Is it common to see nursing homes or more common to see the elderly with relatives? How do they treat the elderly in the nursing homes? Does the government help with the elderly?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

I have not yet visited a hospital here, but I definitely plan to before I leave because I have a lot of questions also. I have been told that the elderly here do have homes, but they cost a whole lot. The insurance system here is a lot different and some people may not have money saved up to pay for a retirement home. Many elderly live with their children here.
