City or the suburbs

Hello everyone
I have a few questions about the cities and the suburbs.

Whats the big difference between the cities and the suburbs?
Is it common to see families in the city or in the suburbs?
Are there public transportation in the suburbs or strictly just in the cities?
Whats the crime rate like?
Is it true that a good portion of the population lives in the cities?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Hello everyone

I have a few questions about the life style in Spain.
What type of housing is in Spain?
Is it common to see American cars ?
Whats the night life like? Is it true that most people tend to go out Wednesday through Saturday?

Hey everyone, I also have some questions about health care in spain. I am definately interested in the questions that Sandra asked, but also if any of you have had any experiences yourself, or anyone you know, with hospitals or doctors visits while in Spain. Thanks for all of your help!

A little about myself and some questions

Hello everyone

My name is Sandra. I am a senior at UMBC. My major is information systems. I am 23 years old and I enjoy to travel. I have been to a few different countries. I plan to go to Portugal next summer and maybe even stop in Spain for a few days.

I have a few questions about Spain's tradition, when it comes to the older folks. Is it common to see nursing homes or more common to see the elderly with relatives? How do they treat the elderly in the nursing homes? Does the government help with the elderly?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

in class, we have been covering mandatos informales and formales. It is my understanding that the usage of these is similar to formal and informal conversations in the US, such as between friends or with an authority figure. But are thee any differences that you have noticed since living in Spain? -Emily

In Spain!

Hello, my name is Meridyth Crawford and I am currently in Spain attending the Texas Tech Campus here. I am a senior and I currently waiting to hear back from Texas Tech's Occupational Therapy program if I was accepted. I am here in Spain mostly because I recieved a $4000 scholarship and the other because I thought having this experience would better my chances in getting into OT school. Also, living in a state that is mostly populated with Spanish speaking people, I thought it would be in my best interest to learn Spanish, so I can speak to my patients. Spain is wonderful, there are so many interesting cities here with tons of history. The whole country is filled with history. In Texas, I am an aerobic instructor and I used to work at Dillard's. I love to work-out! In Spain we do have stores that are similar to Wal-Mart, but not nearly as big, of course, everything here is smaller: the cars, the people, houses, everything..... They is Corte Ingles which is a huge company with a chain of stores across Spain, it has everything from clothes to grociers. I have to go and work on a project, I'll write more later.

I'm not absolutely certain that I'm supposed to be posting questions here for the students i Spain, but I'm think that that is correct.

I was wondering what it is like to go shopping in Spain. How are the stores and the general experience different then in America?
Are there as many large Walmart type corporations or are there more privetly owned businesses?

Thanks, Emily
